With a hot and humid airmass over the region, there will be an Elevated risk for severe weather across the region Thursday.

Thunderstorms are likely to develop this afternoon and evening. The strongest thunderstorms are likely in Deep Southwestern Ontario, as well as in Far Eastern Ontario including Ottawa, Brockville and Cornwall. It is also possible that thunderstorms do not develop and the risk for severe weather diminishes.

The areas within the Elevated risk can expect rainfall of 60 to 80 millimetres, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 110 km/h, and hail 3 to 4 centimetres in diameter. These areas are likely to see the greatest risk for localized flooding, as well as flash flooding due to torrential downpours.

The areas within the Low risk can expect rainfall of 40 to 60 millimetres, a low risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, and hail 2 to 3 centimetres in diameter. There is the potential for localized flooding.

The areas within the Very Low risk can expect rainfall of 40 to 60 millimetres, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and the potential for localized flooding.

Power outages may occur due to strong wind gusts. Ensure you have a plan in place to take shelter if severe weather approaches.
