
On May 19, 2026, severe thunderstorms passed through Southwestern Ontario during the afternoon and evening hours. Many reports were sent in, including tree damage, branches down, hydro wires down, and hydro poles snapped.
Through investigation, the Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University has confirmed that 3 tornadoes and 1 downburst occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The details are listed below. All information is courtesy of the Northern Tornadoes Project.
EF0 Tornado – Melbourne, ON
Start Time: 5:30 PM
Final Classification: EF0 Tornado (over land)
Maximum Wind Speed (estimated): 115 km/h
Track Length: 7.87 km
Path Width: 300 metres
Damage to trees and a farm structure was reported.
EF1 Tornado – London (Lambeth) – Mossley, ON
Start Time: 5:45 PM
Final Classification: EF1 Tornado (over land)
Maximum Wind Speed (estimated): 145 km/h
Track Length: 26.2 km
Path Width: 600 metres
Witnesses captured video and photos of a tornado in southern London, from Sharon Creek and Lambeth areas eastward to the Mossley area. Damage to hydro poles, trees, houses and several farm buildings were reported, as well as a transport truck flipped over.
EF1 Downburst – London (Argyle) – Dorchester, ON

Final Classification: EF1 Downburst
Maximum Wind Speed (estimated): 145 km/h
Intermittent damage was found over an area 9.9 kilometres long and 1.1 kilometres wide. Damage to hydro poles, trees, houses and an apartment building was reported in East London and eastward to the north of Dorchester.

Maximum Wind Speed (estimated): 125 km/h
Track Length: 16.7 km
Path Width: 400 metres
Damage to trees and minor damage to a house and burn was reported in the Salford area.
